Portfolio: Uniforms

Kara is the 2025/2026 Board President and handles Uniforms. This is Kara's third year on the board and third year helping with the uniform portfolio. Kara's history with the bands starts in 1996 when she started Round up herself and she progressed through CRUB, CSSB and Showband (2001-2004). After Showband, she did 5-6 years of adult winterguard groups and after 9 years off, decided to rejoin Escalade this season.

Kara's day job is as a registered nurse at the Alberta Bladder Centre, which she loves. Kara has 2 kids in CRUB this year and they are in their 3rd and 2nd years. Kara has a special place in her heart for the bands and is delighted to give back by volunteering.

Portfolio: Yearbook

Farsin is the 2025/2026 Vice President of the board and also handles the yearbook. Farsin has been part of the Calgary marching band community for many years. Before COVID, he was actively involved with CSSB, serving several years on the board. Last year, he was responsible for the yearbook and continues to lead that work this season. He’s also the person behind many of the Facebook photo posts that capture the fun and spirit of the band.

Farsin has also served on the CMSBA Board, giving him a broad perspective on the community and how the different programs fit together. His involvement across multiple organizations has given him a good understanding of how things work behind the scenes — and a big appreciation for the teamwork that makes it all possible.

He’s passionate about creating a supportive, inclusive, and fun environment where youth can grow and shine through music and performance.

Nancy is the 2025/2026 Treasurer on the board. Nancy's involvement in the performing arts spans most of her life, but her connection to the marching arts, as an alumna of both the Calgary Round-up Band (CRUB) and the Calgary Stetson Show Band (CSSB), is particularly deep. After gaining experience on the board of another local music organization, she was drawn back to CRUB and is now proud to serve a second year as its Treasurer. In this role, she is focused on building a strong financial foundation for the band, ensuring its stability and creating new opportunities for growth through careful stewardship and strategic planning.

While she loves the music and the performance, Nancy's favourite thing about this community is the people. She is continually inspired by the unique spirit here—a shared commitment to creating not just a great show on the field, but an outstanding, supportive, and transformative experience for every kid involved. Nancy is passionate about ensuring that opportunity continues for generations to come.

Kelly has been an active and dedicated member of the band community for over 11 years. Throughout this time, she has served in several key roles including chaperoning rehearsals, band camps, in town and out of town performances, chaperone coordinator, tour chaperone, and events coordinator. Kelly has also contributed her leadership and experience to the Board of Directors in both executive and director-at-large positions. Her long-standing commitment, strong organizational skills, and passion for supporting the members, commitment to creating memorable experiences and music education continue to make her an invaluable part of the program’s success for years to come.
